The blackberry is the most picked wild fruit in the country and this year they are out early and in abundance. These were freshly picked in Termonfeckin, Co Louth.
Why not get out in the fresh air and pick your own? They are never far away. The best time to pick is in the morning. Select the ones that are plump and black. After picking refrigerate or freeze. Make sure to rinse them before using and serve at room temperature for the best enjoyment.
Eat them raw, make jam, crumbles, ice cream or they are great in a fruit salad with natural yoghurt. They are very high in nutrients especially Vitamin C and are an excellent source of fibre. Nutritious and delicious…….enjoy while in season!
